THE VALUES

Performing Havan is an integral part of the school routine.  The chanting of the hymns followed by a discourse by “Shastri ji” inculcates in the children a respect for their culture and moral values.  “Your highest value is not ‘God” but yourself, you are your own highest value “The highest possible stage in moral culture is when we recognize that we ought to control our thoughts.

THE SOCIETY

“I do not give lectures or a little charity, when I give I give myself” – is the adage followed by the Hansarians.  Blood Donation is an annual feature where the parents and staff come together for the noble cause.  Be it the Institute for the Blind or buying cards to help the cancer patients, Hansarians believe in doing their bit for society.

THE CURRICULUM AND EVALUATION

The Curriculum and Evaluation techniques called the Early Education Development Programme (EEDP) have been developed by the D.A.V. Education Board. It has been designed keeping in mind that children learn better when they proceed from the concrete to the abstract. Activities are specially designed so that the young ones learn as they play thus making learning fun. Each child is assessed as per his own previous performance and development rather than making a comparison with other children. This ensures stress free learning for the tiny tots.

THE CULTURAL HERITAGE

Festivals are celebrated with great fervour by the people of our country.  India is the melting pot of diverse cultures and religions, which enrich its cultural heritage.  The tiny tots celebrate the joys of life, be it Dussehra, Diwali, Lohri, Holi, Gurpurab, Id or Christmas.  This help in sensitizing them to the sentiments of different communities which creates cultural harmony in the society.

THE PRIMARY BLOCK

Our tiny tots are growing up, leaving behind “the nest”, they are now ready to spread their wings. Graduating to the Primary Block, the students are now taught and evaluated as per the CBSE guidelines.

THE AMUSEMENT PARK

What more can a child ask for? A park full of swings, jungle-gyms, a vibrating bus, slides and the icing on the cake - an electric toy train to give them a joy ride every day.

THE PLAYROOM

A smile lights up the face, a gleam appears in the eye as little angels enter the playroom rubbing their hands with glee. The wide screen T.V., the High power stereo-music system transport the children to a world of fairy tales and nursery rhymes. The educational kits and games add to the excitement of the young ones.

THE CURRICULUM AND EVALUATION

The Curriculum and Evaluation is based on CBSE parameters. The structure for assessing the child has been specially designed to de-stress the learning process. The entire exercise of continuous evaluation is spread over the year and the talents of the learners are identified so as to empower them with positive inputs. The scale system is drafted in a way that the holistic manner of learning is reflected in the assessment report.

The Hansarians are also exposed to the Young Learners English (YLE) tests run by Cambridge ESOL, a department of University of Cambridge, England. The tests are set and marked by experts in language teaching. Assessment serves as an ideal introduction to public examinations for children aged between 7 to 10 years.

The students of classes VI to VIII also appear for the KET & PET which are a part of the main suite of Cambridge Examinations. Our teachers have been trained specially for helping the students prepare for these examinations which hone their English Language Skills.

THE BOARD EXAMINATION

The Hansarians with all knowledge at hand are well equipped to face the Board Examinations which is their litmus test. Following the tradition of their seniors, the students continue achieving excellence in the academic field and bringing laurels to the school. The school can boast of exceptional results in both the Class VIII, D.A.V. Education Board Exams as well as the CBSE Class X and XII level examination.

A further step is taken in helping the students develop the overall personalities when they are given ample opportunities to appear for various competitive exams such as the NTSE, Maths and Science Olympiads, etc.  This gives them the cutting edge as at a young age they overcome their hesitation in appearing for exams which test knowledge beyond the text.

THE MULTIMEDIA THEATRE

At Hansraj, we believe in remaining abreast with the changing trends of education. The air conditioned Multimedia Theatre with its hi-tech Metal Halide Data Video Projection System is an inherent tool of imparting knowledge. What is read in books comes alive on a giant screen with an AC-3 Dolby Surround Sound System through curriculum based CD ROMs.

THE LEARNING CENTRE

We firmly believe that ‘If a child could do well, he would’.  Every student’s life does not depict a rosy picture as there are children with Learning Difficulties (LD). We are there to help these children who need, not only our empathy but also our whole hearted support.  At the Learning Centre in the school, we try to make each child believe “I TOO CAN” - the motto we follow to ensure that each child achieves his potential despite all odds.

THE SMART CLASS

A step in Interactive Learning is the Smart Class where the children weary from bookish knowledge, get an insight into a world of information beyond textual learning “Education isn’t only books.  It’s asking questions all the time”.  Integrated into the curriculum, the Smart Class has been introduced to make learning sustainable.

THE HOSTEL

“There is nothing like staying home for real comfort”. However, sometimes for a better and brighter future one needs to move away from Home.

At Hansraj we have a Hostel for girls only, where we have endeavoured to create a “home away from home.” The environment is one of warmth and love as in an extended family with a mother - like warden who would substitute the parents.

The school hostel building has well ventilated and well-lit rooms. These air-conditioned rooms accommodate 4 students each. The highly sanitized toilets have running hot and cold water.

Every child has her own way of spending her leisure time. The Recreation room gives them opportunity to view programmes on the big screen T.V. They are encouraged to develop their reading habit by providing a variety of reading material. The hostellers can give expression to their creativity in the Open Air Theatre where festive celebrations and cultural activities are organized.

“A healthy mind in a healthy body”. To keep fit a gym equipped with the latest exercising equipment is at the disposal of the children. In addition, there are sports like Basketball, Skating, Swimming and Yoga.

Internet and E-mail facilities are also available which enable the children to keep in touch with their family.  STD/ISD facilities have also been installed so that the children are just a phone call away from their parents.

A well balanced, nutritious, wholesome diet, both Indian and Continental is served in buffet style in the air-conditioned dining hall. The daily menu is prepared by an expert dietitian keeping in mind the important nutrients needed for a growing child.

The school takes special care of the students’ health. The school has specialists and competent doctors on its panel.

We are aware that the young need guidance viz a viz their studies. As such special coaching classes are organized for these students, particularly those who are preparing for their board examination (VIII, X, XII) and also for the academically weak students.
